PLAYGROUND GRAND OPENING! |
The Hermantown Elementary Playground officially opened on Wednesday, Nov. 5 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Principal Appelwick, Superintendent Whitwam and members of the Hermantown PTO. All elementary students and staff were in attendance, which made the ceremony extra special and extra fun!
This playground is the result of a wonderful joint effort between the Hermantown School District and the Hermantown Elementary PTO, with incredible fundraising support from our students and families.
Thank you to those that helped with the installation of the playground: community volunteers, district staff and Morin's Siding and Window.

Dear Hermantown Community,
We are excited to say that the elementary playground, in the front of the school, held its grand opening on November 5! To save money, the District hired one foreman from the playground company who worked with our staff and volunteers for the assembly and installation. It will be amazing for our youngest elementary students, but was certainly more work than we had anticipated! Thank you to the volunteers who helped with the assembly, the PTO and all of your fundraising donations that helped make this project possible.
Construction on the NorthStar Ford Arena will be “substantially complete” on November 7th. This means the fencing will come down and construction trailers will be leaving the school grounds. There is still work inside to be completed such as lockers, lighting, technology work and punch list items. The grand opening is scheduled for Friday, January 2nd with a community open house. On Saturday, January 3rd the high school girls and boys teams are both scheduled to play their first games on the new sheet of ice!
Sincerely,
Wayne Whitwam
Hermantown Superintendent
